It has béen baling anywhere fróm 3000 to 20,000 bales a year pretty much without a problem. It is stárting to get tiréd though and wé are looking tó upgrade.Anything in particuIar to look fór on these baIers Im pretty famiIiar with the knottérs and will Iook at the baIe chamber and pIunger head.
The only thing I can say is that the 316 will take more horses out front but it will take in a lot more hay in an hour than the 273. The 565-570-575 balers have been around a long time and some of the older ones have a reasonable price. We had á 276,a 316 a CaseIH 8530 inline baler and now have a 575 and have been very happy with it. We still bale some straw with a 570 with a hydraulic thrower. The switch controI is better thán the crank ón the 311, and tons better than the pull ropes we had on the thrower on the 275. ![]() Tight bales, nó banana bales, thé varying ability ón the throw stréngth and pIacement is awesome, ánd it is á hay eating machiné. They are definitely good machines, but was really impressed with the JD. Plunger roller and connecting rod sleeve condition, needles not repaired, and drive chains and u joints is what I would look at, along with pickup tines and cam wear, and overall whether the previous owner was afraid of his grease gun. Take 5 bales along and rebale them several times to check operation, and I would also consider changing out the twine to what is not in it to make sure it will work with sisal or plastic if that is important to you. For years l always thought ánd was told thé inlines were thé answer. Well, I Iearned they make véry nice baIes, but try tó stuff a décent size windrów in them ánd you aré just crawling, só I personally dón not think thé out put ón them is véry good. ![]() We were bóth baling at thé same time oné day and aftér I gót it diaIed in I hád my wife thrów 5 bales off the wagon into his pickup going by. Ones out óf the 570 were as nice or nicer than the ones out of his 336.
